The Alchemical Imagination is a nine-week deep dive into the creative strategies used by alchemists.
Alchemists refer to their combined practices as “The Great Art.” The artists here learned to use metaphors derived from ancient alchemy to elucidate deep structures in the creative imagination, using alchemical symbolism as a springboard to expand in multiple disciplines. The work presented here is the result of their discoveries.
The Alchemical Imagination is developed and taught by Eliza Swann, also known as Emerald. Eliza is currently faculty at Pratt Institute where they teach alchemy across many artistic disciplines. They are the 2023 lecturer-in-residence at the Philosophical Research Society where they are leading a series of talks on alchemy.
